What is Osteopathy
Osteopathy aims to find the source that is generating the dysfunction and/or pain whilst looking at the person as a whole. It involves diagnosis and treatment of structural and mechanical issues within the body.
Treatment is tailored to the individual and is a natural, non-invasive form of manual treatment. Osteopathy can assist with:
- Acute and chronic pain from head to toe and every joint inbetween
- Injuries from sports/leisure/work
- Headaches/Migraines
- Arthritic pain
- Neck and shoulder tension
- Strength and mobility
- Sinus issues
- Whiplash
- Sciatica
- Muscle and joint pain
- Pre and post surgery rehabilitation and much more!
What to Expect
During the initial treatment you will be asked both about your reason for treatment, regular activites as well as your medical history to get a better understanding of how we can help you get back to full function.
If your injury is due to a recent accident, we are able to lodge a new ACC claim for you. If you already have an existing claim, please bring the details of this with you along with any relevant x-ray, reports of letters associated with it.
Depending on the body region being treated it may be necessary to remove an item of clothing to accurately exam your injury. You may want to bring some shorts/exercise tights that are easy to move in for your comfort. You will never be required to remove your underwear. After testing the range of motion Jenny will discuss with you what her approach to treatment will be, this may include soft tissue (massage), manipulation, pressure points, cupping and strapping.
